Frogs did not live on the Queen Charlotte Islands until they were recently introduced. Legend explains it this way - When the Frog Chief first met a black bear, he was terrified as the Bear tried to step on the hopping frog, just for fun. The Frog Chief and the other frogs decided to leave the island for fear the Bear would seek them out for more entertainment. The Haida believed that Raven ate frogs as well.
