Haida mythology credits Raven with creating the world. He put the sun, moon and stars into the sky, salmon in the rivers and food onto the land. Raven gave the people fire, placed the rivers, lakes and cedar trees. Full of magical power, Raven could transform himself into anything at anytime. Raven is a important totem figure and is one of the two main crests of the Haida. Raven is said to have stolen the sun from the Sky Cheif and set it in the sky.
